There’s something special about this Panerai Luminor Oro Rosso PAM511. First introduced in 2013, this model was the first Panerai to feature the P.5000, a manual-wind movement capable of running up to 192 hours without compromising its accuracy.

How the PAM00511 looks on the wrist

Whether suited to 47mm Submersibles or 42mm Luminor Due, you’ll find that the 44mm Luminor case is a suitable size for many wrists. Specifically with the PAM511, a larger wrist may find it useful as a classy dress piece, and a smaller wrist may find it useful as a sporty alternative with a splash of gold.

The Luminor case is surprisingly comfortable, with tapered lugs that wrap around the wrist without being sharp. Coupled with a premium Panerai Leather strap and you’ll love the feel of it on the wrist. You’ll know it’s there due to the weight of the gold, but I think that’s a good thing!

The PAM00511’s case

In a 44mm 18ct polished red gold case, this model has a classy feel with a striking finish with the polished gold. In the 44mm Bettarini case, an iconic design drawing back to the early Pre-Vendome cases, it gives this model a robust and reminiscent aura. This means the PAM511 can easily be passed as not only a dress watch, but also a high-end casual piece.

The carefully detailed dial on the Panerai Luminor Oro Rosso

This Panerai is beautifully designed, from the complimentary hue of the brown dial and gold markers to the symmetrical 4 lines of text on the dial; Luminor, Marina, Panerai, 8 Days. Having a sandwich dial gives this model extra depth and character, whereby shadows can distort the luminescent markers depending on the lighting.

Panerai PAM511 Movement: P.5000

Powered by the P.5000 visible through the exhibition caseback, it has a power reserve of 8 days and is one of Panerai’s most renowned and reliable movements. The Panerai P.5000 has a diameter of 15¾ lignes (35.7 mm) and a thickness of 4.5 mm. It uses 21 jewels out of a total of 127 component parts. Is balance wheel oscillates at a frequency of 3 Hz, equivalent to 21,600 vibrations/hour. The design of its main plate and bridges recalls that of old movements in which the mechanism was contained between two plates concealing most of the wheels and allowing only a few details to be seen, such as the balance cock and the intermediate wheel.
